Rolling Snake Eyes

I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.  KJB  Ecclesiastes 9:11

SnakeEyes

Life is about randomness. We can plan, manage and execute but still toss the proverbial snake eyes. Time and chance occurrence are not interruptible. We must accept that life is not always fair but that we can only try our best and hope that fortune and not folly grace us. When all our good intentions result in an unsatisfactory result we cannot stop; we must carry on until providence again smiles on our countenance. Gamblers will tell you that in the long run if you toss a coin it will land on heads half the time and tails the other half.  That is not say that you may roll heads or tails in long successions without the other result coming up. We must accept fortune and time as they happen and keep living for the moment and for tomorrow.  What was, need not always be.

When fortune does strike we must recognize the success we find and enjoy the moment because it may pass over just as quick as it came. Too often we fail to accept small wins and look for larger triumphs – this will always result in missing out on momentary joy. If you stitch all these moments of joy together you can create quite a colourful quilt wherein each square is it’s own story.

Don’t discount time and luck – they are integral to being. Value the moments and life will be fuller. Accept fortune – good or bad and you will realize that life happens without stopping – ever onward and upward.
